Thankful Thursday

Thursday, August 9th, 2007

I decided to go back to doing the original Thankful Thursday. There is nothing wrong with Becki’s version, Thankful Thursday 13, as it is a great idea, but I dunno. I just a thought… I am doing that A LOT lately. Getting nostalgic and lost in my thoughts. :)

I have so much to be thankful for. I really do.

  • I am thankful to God for His wonderful creation. I just think about it and get goose bumps. It is amazing to think that the God who created all this, loves me. He really cares about each of us. That just blows my mind to think about that.
  • I am thankful for friends, like Becki, Heather and Christina. Even though I was “gone” from the blogosphere, these gals cared about me and that is what true friendship is all about.
  • I am thankful for family. We lean on each other and help one another out. When one of us gets exhausted, another one will lighten the load, knowing that when they need their load lightened, the first one will be there to help.
  • I am thankful for Valorie (read above only multiply by 100) [Um, just in case you wanted to know, the brunette in the profile picture is your's truly. I know many of you have never seen a picture of me]
  • I am thankful for Having answers
  • I am thankful for Places with infomation, where I can connect with others who are going through the same things.
  • I am thankful for my friends over at Blog Mommas and Moms Making a Difference.
  • I am thankful for blogging. It helps me to see the bigger picture.
  • I am thankful for the Bible. God’s word is wonderful.
  • I am thankful for Bible studies that can help you understand things like how to discern God’s will and other wonderful topics.
  • I am thankful for my church. It is big, but it has the heart of a small church. I just love it.

If you are interested in reading what others are thankful for, you can see the participants over at Sting My Heart.

Other reasons for my silence

Tuesday, August 7th, 2007

I have no peace about my health. I realize that is because I still worry about it, but I cannot help but feel that there is more to this than just my APS. I know I should not worry, but I do it anyway, which only makes me worry more, when that realization hits. Silly Melly…

Anyway, my ears have been ringing since, July 07, 2007. Nonstop. Nothing I do stops it. I cannot even mask it with other noises. It is ALWAYS there.

On top of that, my hearing in my right ear is coming and going. If there is any background noise, at all, you need to be right in front of me, like at least three feet, and I have to be able to see you. I do not know the connection between sight and hearing, but really. I can hear you better if I can see  you. I hate wearing my glasses at work, but I almost have to so that I can hear everybody, because there is a LOT of background noise, in the mall.

Between the ringing and the hearing, I am loosing my mind.

I asked my Dr about it. At first she said it was the asprin. Well, the ringing started before I started taking the asprin, so it cannot be that. She took me completely off caffeine, she said for “a few days”. I stayed off for almost a week. No change. I am now limiting myself to one caffeinated drink a day.

Anyway, no answer. I guess I will have to go to an ENT for it, but I do not really want to go to another Dr right now, but I will if I have to.

I am very moody and irritable with the ringing in my ears, so I have been silent.

On My Heart

Tuesday, August 7th, 2007

I have been silent (again) for several reasons. I am not going to post all my reasons in this post. I am going to share what is on my heart. I may make other posts going into detail about this later.

I have mentioned to Beck, and maybe a few others, that I am doing a study on the will of God. I started this study, wanting to find out the ultimate will of God for my life. As I have dug into this study, I have found that the will of God, much like other parts of our lives, is a journey. When we complete one leg of the journey, the next leg will be revealed to us. Oh, I have learned a lot more that I would love to share with you, however, I am going to stop there, in this post, because I do not want this post to be all about that. ;)

Another thing on my heart is discipleship.

18 Jesus approached and, breaking the silence, said to them, All authority (all power of rule) in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.
19 Go then and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20 Teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you, and behold, I am with you all the days (perpetually, uniformly, and on every occasion), to the [very] close and consummation of the age. Amen (so let it be).
Matthew 28:18-20(AMP) - emphasis added by me

More on this in a later post, also. I do not want to water down the importance of it with it being discussed here with other things.

The last thing on my heart is not solved yet, so I am not posting it, but it involves Faith Filled Wives. I will let you all know when I reach my answer.

Two Moms in a Blog What's in a Name

This is the What’s In A Name? Meme started by Two Moms in a Blog

I was tagged by Heather because she wants to know the meaning of my unusual name. Well here it is.

My name is: Melissa. It means Honey Bee. Yeah, not very exciting. I know.

“From the Greek ‘honey bee’. In Greek mythology, this was the name of a nymph that saved Zeus from his father, Cronus. The 16th century Italian poet Ariosto used the name for a good fairy in his poem “Orlando Furioso.” Melissa is also the genus name of five herbs in the mint family of plants.”

I was named after a character on the soap opera that my mom watched at the time. I cannot remember which one. It was in 1970ish.

Origin: Greek

I am tagging:

Katie
Liz
Ang

If you have been tagged, copy and paste all of this - from the image to the end of the instructions - into a blog post. Then, change the information to match your name and tag three other bloggers. If you don’t know what your name means, you can try looking it up on Baby’s Name World.
