8 Random Things

Friday, June 29th, 2007

Heather tagged me (well, she tagged all her readers, but since I am a reader, I am going to play ;) ) and now I get to tell you “8 Random Facts About Myself” that hopefully you don’t already know:

There are rules to follow in this meme so here we go:

1. You need to know the rules before the game begins.

2. Each player starts with 8 random facts/habits about themselves.

3. People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.

4. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.

5. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

So, let’s start with 8 random things:

1. My favorite color is red. A deep dark rich red.

2. One of my eyes is lighter than the other. One is almost green and the other is almost brown. I have freaked people out with this.

3. I drove a convertible VW bug for my first car. It was a lot of fun, however, I pushed it more than I drove it.

4. My sister is my best friend.

5. I love dogs. I never saw myself as a “dog” person, but the older I get the more attached I get to them.

6. Sometimes I miss “gaming” so much. There are times when I just want to reinstate one of my old accounts and play.

7. Some times I really struggle with my faith. Those are the times when I usually the most silent.

8. My best on-line friend is the one that got me into blogging. Thanks Becki!

Now to tag people. The thing is, I do not think I have 8 people to tag, who have not already done this…

There is:

Ang - She does not do many memes but I love to read her blogs.

Christina - Again, she does not do memes but her blog is awesome.

Teri: Her blog is always a great read.

Tiffany: Another great blog.

Shannon: A newer reader/friend of mine. I enjoy her blog, very much.

These are the friends of mine that come to mind, that have not done this meme yet. I know it is not 8… :)

Meet Buddy

Friday, June 29th, 2007

I was going to wait until I had a picture, but it does not look like it is going to happen any time soon, so…

Let me share the story of how Buddy came to live with us. :)

A friend of mine, from the local mall, asked me if we wanted to have (yes, that means free) their Miniature Schnauzer. (YAY!) The first time we talked, they said he was about 3 months. The second he was about 5 months. Well, even sight unseen and the changes in his age, we adopted our Buddy. They called him Puppy.

Reasons I do not trust doctors

Friday, June 29th, 2007

I wanted to start sharing my health journey with you. One of the best places to start is the reasons why it is so hard for me to go to a Dr, even when I know I need to. I have a very hard time trusting in this area. The next time I hear the words, “I have no earthy idea what is wrong with you.” I am going to break down and cry, right there in the Dr’s office. I will not name Drs, clinics or even cities these Drs are from. No matter how privately you ask me, I will not reveal their names.

When I was 3, yes you read that right 3, years old, I had my tonsils removed.  It was 1973, in a very small town. They did do things like that back then. I was only 3. I do not remember the reasons for it or how sick I was before. I do know that since the age of 12, or for as long as I can remember, I have gotten strep throat at least once a year, with many years getting it as many as 4 times a year.

Thankful Thursday 13 - 4

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

Ok, lets see if I can actually get this typed out this time. LOL! I have sat down to do this 4 times so far.

1. I am thankful to God first and always. His creation. His perfect plan. His perfect will.

2. Boog. His uncanny way to always make me smile.

3. The owner of the “smoothie place” in our mall, for GIVING us a 6 month old male Miniature Schnauzer.

4. Buddy - our new puppy for making Boog smile.

5. Pepper for tolerating the puppy and being such an awesome dog. She is top dog in this house.

6. DH for changing his mind about “not being down with the name Buddy” once he heard that it was Boog that named him that.

7. Dr. Price for actually talking to me and sending me to a new Rhumatologist (sp?).

8. Dr. Pocurull for talking to me like I am sane. Explaining things to me. Actually caring.

9. The technician who took my blood work, 2 days in a row, and actually talked to me during the second visit. It was a long one and it was great to be treated like a person, not just a blood bag. ;)

10. The love and support of my friends and family, while we go through all this testing.

11. My boss. She is wonderful. When she met Buddy, yesterday, she was as excited for us, as if we had just had a new baby.

12. I cannot comment on it, yet. I have a hard time reading it. After 10 years the pain is still great, but I just love TK’s new blog. Thanks, Teri for writing it. This will be amazing support for those who have lost a child.

13. Being able to read all the great blogs that my friends write. Being able to blog and share things like this meme, and my joy over Buddy and the Drs.

You should write your own list of 13 things you are thankful for on Thursdays, and head over to Becki’s Walk to sign her Mr. Linky. :)

I must really rock!

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

WOW! I am going to faint! Teri thinks I rock too! :) Thank you, sweetie! I noticed it when I was going to check my blog friends for people to nominate. :)

I Rock!?!

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

Becki thinks so! Thank you Becki for such a wonderful gesture. I feel honored!

I get to nominate 5 other blogs for this award. Let’s see if I can think of 5 of my blog friends who do not already have it. ;)

Liz (LooneyBin4Sure): She is one of my first Blog Friends, who was not a friend before we started reading each others blogs. She is a great person. Her blog is always a good read.

Ang4Him: It was hard to pick which blog to link here, for Ang. She has some great ones. I love to read her stuff. Ang and I have been friends for a while, and I wonder what I would do without her friendship, sometimes.

Christina: Her blog for single moms is great. I just love that someone out there cares. :)

Becki: (Can I nominate the blogger who nominated me?) She is the most rocking blogger I know, I just love her.

Teri: I did not realize that Teri had nominated me, as well, until I went to her blog to get her URL to add here. I know, she nominated FFW, but ya know, it is all the same person. ;) Thanks, TK. Teri is another amazing friend of mine.

Heather: Of course, I am going to nominate Heather. I know she has been nominated before, but Heather is a great friend of mine. Wonderful woman. That is one way to describe my friend Heather.

Tiffany: A new friend of mine, but a friend just the same. She is a great gal.

Katie: Another new friend. I have a lot of respect for Katie.

I know there are many more of you out there, who deserve to be mentioned. There are a lot of great blogs, and a lot of rockin’ bloggers out there. I just wish I could name you all! :)

I finally did it!

Sunday, June 24th, 2007

Ok, well, not really, but I can do it now, because of what I did do.

My old readers know, and some of my newer readers might have scrolled back that far and read. I had trouble reading the book of Job. With my bi-polar and some of the health things I have been going through, the book just depressed me more and more. Well, I got my hands on a used copy of With the Word by Warren W. Wiersbe, and have been using it to help with my Bible study. It is not a full commentary, but it does have commentary on each chapter of the Bible. Anyway, I was at work yesterday, and it was not real busy. Busy enough that I did not want to pull out my Bible, my note pad and With the Word, so I just pulled out With the Word, for some light reading.

Well, to my pleasant surprise, I had the idea to start reading the book of Job in there. I am so glad I did. I now feel that I can open my Bible and read the book of Job without the depression and the pain. I now will be able to look deeper into the meaning of the book, and see that Job had it bad. Real bad, and that my problems are not near as bad as what he had. I also know that in Job, and in my life, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

While reading this commentary, I got through the entire book, with lots of quotes to help me through my life. It was wonderful. However, the best part was, when I was on the last chapter or 2, I got an answer to a prayer, dealing with my own health problems. I will be calling the Dr first thing Monday morning.

Anyway, I am not finishing the Psalms before I go back and read Job. I am just going to go read Job, then come back to the Psalms when I am finished.

Ang, I am still looking for a copy of The Gospel According to Job. Well, I have found it on Amazon, but I am trying to get an order together, so I can get free shipping. ;) I really want to read this though. It looks like a great resource. Thanks again for suggesting it.

I have not forgotten about you, I promise

I have been busy over at MyFamily.com, setting up a page for my mom’s family that just had the reunion. :) It is a fun place.
